Media Outreach Drives Traffic to
AFCI Web Site
Zeppos & Associates recently helped the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) launch a new Web site as part of an ongoing public education campaign to promote new life-saving technology called an Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI). An AFCI is an advanced form of circuit breaker that detects dangerous electrical conditions in the home, and shuts off the circuit before an electrical fire begins. The Web site, www.afcisafety.org, provides educational materials to consumers and electrical industry professionals about this important step forward in home safety.
A key element to the campaign focused on generating awareness of AFCIs in various electrical industry publications with the hope of also drawing readers to the AFCI Web site. The team at Zeppos & Associates succeeded in placing stories in several top electrical industry publications, many of which highlighted the Web site. Each time an article was published or appeared online NEMA noticed significant spikes in the number of visitors to the AFCI Web site.
Zeppos & Associates will continue to work with NEMA in 2008 to further educate homeowners and other key stakeholders throughout the U.S. about this safety initiative.
